The third annual Englewood Cliffs 5k will be held on Sunday September 16. In its first two years, the race attracted approximately 300 runners and walkers from town and in around the area. The inaugural race was organized in 2016 under the leadership of the members of the 5k committee including Council President Carrol McMorrow, Councilman William Woo, Sanket Shah, Howard Rose, and assistant Rec Director, Paul Duffy.
Together with the support of the ECPD, the Englewood Cliffs DPW and many volunteers, this community event has been a tremendous success and we look forward to even more signups for 2018. Many corporations, local businesses and non-profits have come to support the event including LG, Lexus of Englewood, Parkway Toyota, Port Authority PBA, Bergen Protective Systems, Michael Halebian & Co., The Goodrich’s Companies Executive Center, the Avital Family, Unilever, Giovanni’s Bicycle Cub, Maranatha Grace Church, and Simply Juiced among others. A local robotics club also came to demonstrate the science of robotics. Others joined in to sell cupcakes to raise money for the non-profit No Kids Hungry.
The 5 km (3.1 mile) course is a USATF sanctioned and timed race with the funds raised going to the Borough’s recreation, parks and playgrounds. The day will also include a Fun Run for kids of ages 10 and under in which to participate starting at 8:30 AM.
For the 5K race starting at 9:15 AM, medals will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group as well as the overall male and female winners of the race. The race is “fast and flat” and is a great opportunity to improve on your personal best times or simply to have a good time together with friends, family or colleagues.
If you are interested in sponsoring the race and being featured on the town’s billboards and race signage, please email email@example.com. Vendor tables are also available for sponsorship.
